Summer 2016 Essentials

"I exist, I am, I am here, I am becoming, I make my own life and no one else makes it for me. I must face my own shortcomings, mistakes, transgressions. No one can suffer my non-being as I do, but tomorrow is another day, and I must decide to leave my bed and live again." ~ Leo Buscaglia

Hey sweetie pies, TGIF! Someone grab me a martini, haha! I am happy to see the weekend as I am sure a lot of you are as well! We have a few weeks until the official start of summer (according to calendar standards at least). Depending on where you reside it may already feel like summer, it definitely already feels that way here in H-Town! So with that being said, I figured now would be a great time to share with you my summertime essentials to beat the heat with grace, functionality and style!

Summer 2016 Essentials

Essentials for Pool/Beach
I love everything unicorns so having a unicorn float is so adorable for the pool! Of course, you have to have a beach towel or beach blanket. I am definitely obsessed with this positano beach blanket. Lastly everyone needs some type of sunscreen

Handbags
I love my handbags and I have so many that I am starting to lose count. However, I essentially only need two. One of which is a backpack in a neutral color which is perfect for those days in the park or just carrying all of your daily essentials without having to be weighed down. You can just throw on your backpack and forget about it! Another bag that I want is a fun, quirky crossbody (the one pictured is sold out but here is one silmilar). A bag like this is definitely going to strike up conversation. You can also let a bag like this one do all the talking when paired with a simple outfit!

Face Care
During the summer, I don't wear a full face of makeup a lot of the time. With the summer heat and my oily/combo skin, makeup just feels like it is melting off of a face. NO BUENO! I will however put on a light moisturizer such as my magical moringa which you sweetie pies know that I swear by! With the summer heat, a facial mist is always nice to carry to cool yourself off with. Now even though I don't wear a full face of makeup, I feel naked without mascara and a liquid lipstick

Jewelry
I love me some jewelry, but you already knew that. Two pieces that I am amped to rock this summer are ear climbers such as ear climbers and convertible necklaces. These type of necklaces are so versatile and perfect for a simple or glam look, day or night.

Footwear
I love heels but my must haves for the summer are a pair of sneakers. These will be great for exploring the city, working out, outdoor concerts, and can be dressed with everything from bodycon dresses to leggings and a tee. I am also currently obessing over pom sandals. These are EVERYTHING! I will be rocking these with all white and denim for sure!

Hair Accessories
I personally feel like hair accessories are one of the most important things to have during the summer. Especially when you are in mortal kombat with humidity, beach hair, and windy conditions. It can become a real struggle out there so a few accessories to have on hand are key. One of which are these hair ties that add a pop of color and won't leave a dent in your hair! I like to pin my hair to the side sometimes and this oversized circle clip is great to add a little oomph to my look. If you like top knots, especially for those really hot days then the bun cuff is perfect for you. It is also doubles as an arm cuff - making it worth the $$. Of course you will need a floppy hat to block the sun whether curb side or pool side.

Sunglasses!
Of course you got to have some sunglasses! I am currently digging mirrored sunglasses. They are EVERYTHING to me right now!

What are YOUR summer essentials? Leave me your thoughts below!

How to Make Metallic Work for your Office Wardrobe - Twirling in Rose Gold

"To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself." ~ Soren Kierkegaard

Hey hey sweetie pies, happy Tuesday! One trend that I am loving for Spring is the metallic trend. I am spying it everywhere from shoes to clothing to accessories. I raved awhile back about my obsession with this skirt that I got from Charlotte Russe. I love it so much that I had to feature it again on here! For this particular look, I opted to for a more work appropriate ensemble. I paired it with this ruffle blouse that I got ages ago from New York and Company. Even though this piece is no longer available, I linked some ruffle blouses just as fabulous as they are affordable below.

To keep it business casual, I opted to pair it with a blazer and my fave booties. That way you are still covered but fashionable. You can totally make metallic work for the office by letting it be the focal point and pairing it with neutrals. That way you won't be going overboard, especial…

How to Style - B+W Striped Dress 3 of 3 Ways

"We must be willing to let go of the life we planned in order to have the life that is waiting for us." ~ Joseph Campbell
Hey hey sweetie pies I am excited to show you the third way that I styled this dress from Rainbow. I opted to wear it tunic style with a pair of jeans and strappy heels. If the length is too long you can opt to leave two or three buttons closed and tie the ends of the shirt into a knot. It helps you  pull off that easy casual look. You can easily create variations of this look by swapping a few things. You can easily swap out the heels for some flat mules for the perfect casual spring outfit. Or you swap out the jeans for long distressed shorts with sandals for sexy casual look. Even though I have styled this dress 3 ways, the options are really endless. Make sure to check out the 1st or 2nd way that I styled this dress. Which look is your fave? 1, 2, or 3?! Leave your thoughts below I would love to hear!
