What to Do Before an Audition - My Pre-Audition Routine

"Give light and people will find the way." ~ Ella Baker

Hey hey sweetie pies, happy Tuesday! I hope you guys had an awesome weekend! For today's post, I wanted to revisit a post that I did back in 2016 - What to Do and Not to Do at an Audition. I got to thinking that this post is definitely perfect for this time of year. With summer intensives, workshops, auditions and recitals filling the Spring and Summer schedules for most dancers - it can be a lot to keep up with. It is not impossible however to make it all work for your schedule, I think the key component is balance. So I want to share some of my self care tips that I like to indulge in before a summer intensive or audition. Doing this ritual is not only fun, but puts me in a good headspace so that I can perform my best.

1. Condition and Stretch
I love taking a good hour or so to condition or stretch the day before. It is a form of therapy for me. Plus it makes me feel good going into that intensive or audition.

2. Take a bubblebath
Lighting a candle, playing some music and taking a hot bubblebath just does something for your girl. I definitely have gotten in the habit of doing this for show days. If you are interested in what I do to prepare for a show, let me know in the comments below!

3. Check my copies of my resume and headshots
I usually check for this a couple of days in advance but because I am majorly OCD, I often check again the day before.

4. Meditate
Meditation has helped me so much! There's this app that I have been using that I have been obsessed with. Check out my updated morning routine post to check out which meditation apps I use!

5. Exfoliate
I believe in exfoliating for a number of reasons. For one, I love for my skin to feel smooth all the time - plus my makeup goes on sooo much easier if I exfoliate. I love gently exfoliating my face and then applying a face mask. The face mask may vary based on what my skin need the most at the moment. I can do a post on that sharing what face masks I like to use/recommend if you guys like! Just let your girl know in the comments below!

6. Pray
I pray every single day. But I like to take some time after I meditate to pray about auditions. I pray for no injuries, the ability to do my best, that His will be done and I thank Him for the opportunity to do what I love.

What do you sweetie pies think of my Pre-audition routine? Any performers out there, what do you do to prepare for an audition? Let me know in the comments below!

4th of July Style Inspiration - Romper with Wrap Skirt Review

"You've got to be willing to lose everything to gain yourself." ~ Iyanla Vanzant

Hey hey sweetie pies, happy Tuesday! I have been loving all of the new pieces that I snagged a while back such as this romper that I snagged for under $25! With a scoop neckline and a wrap skirt giving the illusion of a dress from the back, this printed piece is great for the 4th of July or for a dinner out with the girls!

It contains two skinny straps - allowing you to flaunt your decolletage which is perfect for a night out with strappy heels. If you are not a fan of showing much cleavage, and you are on the bustier side like yours truly, then you may want to opt out of this piece. I am a D-Cup and it definitely is on the revealing side, however I do not mind. I love my curves... ALL of them. My special man reminds me all the time of how beautiful my body is. (Thanks hunni!)

With a sheer panel that wraps around the waist gives it a wrap skirt look. I love the print with warm and cool tone…
